Ooltewah/Chattanooga resident Mike Biddle will get a chance to compete among the world’s best athletes in Ironman Florida on Nov. 2, as this summer, he was hand-selected to become a member of the first-ever X²Performance Triathlon Team.
Mr. Biddle, 44, an art director and father of two, was provided with entry into the sold-out Ironman event and received a complement of team gear, Skins compression apparel and a supply of the sports supplement to assist with their training. X²Performance is formulated to optimize an athlete’s physical performance with increased energy, enhanced endurance and improved recovery, which will help these athletes take their training to a new level to compete on a world class stage, officials said.
“I’m really excited to be a part of the X²Performance team,” said Mr. Biddle. “I’m in love with the sport and they’ve given me the opportunity to compete among the best athletes in the world in Florida on Nov. 2. Chattanooga has one of the best triathlon communities in the country and I’m thrilled that I’ll be representing the city on this stage.”
Mr. Biddle is one of 24 athletes across the country to be selected for the team based on athletic ability, commitment to achieving personal goals and strong mental attitudes. Mr. Biddle balances 25-28 hours of training a week with full-time work and his family, which consists of his wife and two young children. Mr. Biddle was inspired to begin training seriously for triathlons following the sudden death of his father six years ago.
