A home in the Highway 58 area was destroyed by fire early Monday morning.
At 4:30 a.m., a 911 call was received reporting a house fire at 7418 Woodland Bay Drive. The Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department responded and reported the house was fully involved. Once firefighters confirmed all the residents were out of the house, they quickly conducted a “defensive attack” to control the fire from spreading to the adjacent houses.
According to Highway 58 VFD Deputy Chief Stan Hardy, the homeowner, Rosella Beckmann and her family awoke to the smell of smoke and found areas of the home on fire. They escaped from the house without injury. The Beckman family reported to fire officials they had a fire going in the fireplace before going to bed. The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
The house is a total loss and damages are estimated at $300,000. The Beckman family will be staying with family members.
The Highway 58 VFD was assisted by the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department, Hamilton County EMS and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
