Wayne A. Dixon, 86, of Cleveland, died on Saturday, October 26, 2013.
He was the manager for Sears home Improvement for 24 years. Mr. Dixon was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church for over 55 years where he served as choir director. He later became a member of Big Spring Baptist Church where he was a deacon and sang in the choir. He was also a 32nd degree mason with the Conasauga #396 F&AM.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bascom Thomas Dixon and Ellave Stanley Dixon; brothers, Forrest Dixon, B.T. Dixon and C.L. Dixon; sister-in-law, Veta Dixon; brother-in-law, John Kirkpatrick; and three special nephews, Tom, Steve and Jeff Kirkpatrick.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Adah Dixon of Cleveland; four children, Randall Wayne Dixon and wife Sandra, Sandra Shourd and husband Rick and Alan Dixon and wife Kelley, all of Cleveland and Loretta Jones and husband Alan of Charleston; 10 grandchildren, Lisa Jane McNelly, Gary Dixon, David Dixon, Jill Jones, Matt Shourd, Justin Jones, Kristi Dixon, Brandon Shourd, Whitney Dixon and Hunter Jones; six great-grandchildren, Adam Dixon, Bradley Dixon, Hayley Reed, Tristan Jones, Derrick Dixon and Ethan McNelly; two sisters, Pauline Kirkpatrick and Faustine Guthrie, both of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, at Lebanon Baptist Church with Pastor Richard McKeehan officiating. Interment will follow in Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with grandsons and special friends, Ray McKay and Rex Calfee serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 29 at Fike Funeral Home who has charge of the arrangements.
