Moccasin Bend Civil War Fortifications Hike Is Nov. 10

Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park invite the public to participate in a free walking tour on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 2:30 p.m. Led by Park Historian Jim Ogden, this two hour, mile and a half, moderate difficult walk will explore the Civil War Union artillery earthwork complex on the southern end of Stringer's Ridge on Moccasin Bend. 

The walk will begin near the Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute entrance on Moccasin Bend Road. Special event signs will direct to the parking area. 

Cannons in these positions helped keep the Confederates at bay during the siege of Chattanooga in the fall 150 years ago and then helped them drive them from Lookout Mountain during the Battle Above the Clouds on a rainy Nov. 24, 1863.  

Comfortable, supportive footwear and clothing appropriate for the weather and water are recommended for this program. 

Rucknooga To Honor The Fallen Five Is Oct. 31

Rucknooga is a ruck march to honor the Fallen Five from the July 16 terrorist attack.  It will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. The cost is $35 and benefits the Chattanooga Hero Fund.  Registration is available at Keyword: Rucknooga and is available until Oct. 20.  It will begin at 6219 Lee Hwy. at the Memorial and will break ... Attorney Patrick Says Chattanooga Is "Most Logical Place" For Consolidating Volkswagen Lawsuits; Hearing Set Dec. 3

Attorney Gary Patrick said Chattanooga is "the most logical place for consolidating the Volkswagen litigation because it is the only location in the country where VW vehicles are being produced." Woman Stabbed To Death On Hooker Road; Man Injured

A young woman was stabbed to death on Hooker Road early Friday morning and a man was injured. At approximately 1:54 a.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a stabbing at the 4000 block of Hooker Road.
