Dollar Store will have a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday at 11 a.m., and a grand opening will follow on Friday, Nov. 8, from 9 a.m.-8 p.m.
Dollar Store, a full-service deep discount retail store, locally owned and operated by Angela and Michael Hayes, is at 301 East M.L. King Blvd. The store offers thousands of items in over 20 major merchandise categories all priced at $1.
Mr. Hayes says the store is stocked with basic needs and unusual items. The Hayes point out that the store location offers a convenient and affordable retail option to consumers in the downtown and UTC campus areas that was not previously available. They share that their ability to bring significant savings every day to customers, along with personalized friendly service, and being conveniently located near Downtown Chattanooga and the UTC campus, make them confident that the store will be well-received by the community.
Ms. Hayes shares that being part of the economic revitalization of downtown Chattanooga and the historic Martin Luther Boulevard district is exciting and humbling. The Hayes expects Dollar Store to help breathe new life into the M.L.King district. Councilman Moses Freeman states, “Angela and Michael are pioneers in their own right as business people in Chattanooga. They are leading the way in the revitalization of the M.L.King Blvd Business District and District 8. I am certain that the university students and neighbors in the M.L.King community will be very supportive of the Dollar Store.”
Give-a-ways and a drawing for a 32-inch HD LED television will be part of the grand opening celebration on Nov. 8. There will also be live entertainment from 4-6 p.m.
Dollar Store is open Monday- Friday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday, 12-5:30 p.m.
