Preparations are already underway for the annual Thanksgiving Basket project at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 7547 East Brainerd Road, in which the church donates baskets of food to families in need during the week of Thanksgiving.
Last year, baskets were provied to 25 families in need. This year, the church intends to serve 30 families, which vary in size from four to eight family members. Most families are referred by Metropolitan Ministries; however, if you or someone you know is a St. Martin’s parishioner and could benefit from receiving a Thanksgiving basket this year, you may confidentially contact one of the following people: Audra Vetzel at 423 544-8244 or Emma Veys at 706 980-3308.
Each basket consists of two main parts: non-perishable food items—items delivered to the church over the next few weeks —and perishable food items purchased with money donated to the project.
