Let the District 5-AAA volleyball tournament begin, and it will Monday night at Ooltewah High School with three games on the opening-night card.
The host Lady Owls secured the No. 1 seed a week ago and finished the season 12-0 in league play. They are 33-8 overall.
Soddy-Daisy and East Hamilton are the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds while Cleveland is No. 4, Bradley Central No. 5, Walker Valley No. 6 and McMinn County No. 7
On Monday, county rivals Cleveland (15-19, 5-7) and Bradley Central (21-20, 5-7) tip off the tournament at 4:30 p.m. and that winner advances to play Ooltewah on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
East Hamilton (24-16, 8-4) takes on Walker Valley (18-17, 4-8) at 6 p.m. and Soddy-Daisy (39-16, 8-4), which won five straight matches and 11 of its last 12 to close its regular season, tangles with McMinn County (8-20, 0-12).
Ooltewah won 36 of 43 sets during district play and was pushed to five sets in a match only once – that was at Soddy-Daisy.
The second match on Tuesday will pit the East Hamilton-Walker Valley and Soddy-Daisy-McMinn County winners at 6:30 p.m.
The championship is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m.
