As the East Hamilton soccer team took the field for their last regular season game, senior soccer player Ali Fugatt made the most of her senior night. An undermanned East Hamilton dominated possession in the game against Boyd Buchanan but a stingy Buccaneer defense that put as many as 10 players behind the ball made it difficult for the Hurricanes to find the back of the net.
"Boyd worked hard to pressure the ball and limit space around the ball. They are well coached," said East Hamilton Coach John Millard.
Fugatt managed to find just enough space for herself to net the game's only goal in the 14th minute off of an assist from Lauren Barcelona. Coach Millard said, "With a lot players behind the ball, Ali was able to step up from that holding mid position and get a good opportunity. It was a great job from Lauren to find Ali and a great strike from Ali."
Boyd managed only one shot on goal for the game.
East Hamilton moves to 8-6-1 for the season and secured the #2 seed in their new AAA district. East Hamilton will host a district quarterfinal game on Saturday, Oct 12.
