Baylor graduate and outdoor professional Timothy Moore ’04 has been hired to lead the new Baylor Summer Walkabout Camp, which will be launched in the summer of 2014.
A graduate of the University of Virginia and a former raft guide and kayak instructor with the Ocoee Adventure Center, Mr. Moore has also served as a director with Moondance Adventures, where he led multi-week outdoor adventure travel programs throughout the world.
For more than 40 years, Baylor’s Walkabout program has challenged students in the outdoors every day after classes and on longer trips throughout the year. In his new role, Mr. Moore will expand Walkabout by creating and overseeing all aspects of an overnight camp that will be offered to boys and girls ages 11-14. Campers will have their choice of two sessions: June 15–27, or July 6-18.
Jim Kennedy, Baylor's director of admission and enrollment, expressed the school's excitement at adding Moore to the staff. “Timothy is passionate about the outdoors, and he knows how to make wilderness experiences equal parts challenge and fun for young people. His outdoor skills, his knowledge of the region's wilderness areas, and his previous experience leading an internationally renowned program are perfectly matched to this position. We are elated to have him back at Baylor."
