PUD That Is Strongly Opposed By Cassandra Smith Road Neighbors Is Withdrawn

A planned unit development (PUD) that is strongly opposed by neighbors on Cassandra Smith Road in Hixson has been withdrawn.

Developer James Pratt told City Council members that in light of new information he was withdrawing his request for rezoning to allow townhomes and condos along with single-family residences.

Jim Mullinax said he was the agent who sold the property at 5650 Cassandra Smith Road for Turner and Gage Smith who owned it for 40 years. He said the Smiths did not want townhomes or condos at the site and specified in the deed that they would not be at the site.

He said a representative of the Pratt firm was told that at the time.

The plan had been to build 15 townhomes, eight condos and 15 single-family homes on the 15-acre site.

Neighbors, including residents of the adjacent Amberbrook Gardens, said they wanted the neighborhood to retain its single-family-home character.

Jury Awards 25 City Police Personnel Total Of $562,000 On Claims That Pay Plan Was Not Followed
