Tennessee’s 2013 Civil War Sesquicentennial Signature Event “Occupation and Liberation" Symposium begins Wednesday, and runs through Saturday.
Events include lectures by America's foremost historians on the Battles for Chattanooga, a concert, living history demonstrations, book signings, entertainment, a Sesquicentennial Civil War Living History as well as a Civil War Exhibit offering rare and unique artifacts from the Battles for Chattanooga.
The official Sesquicentennial Commemoration begins at 10 a.m. on Friday, and will include Tennessee Department of Tourist Development Commissioner Susan Whitaker, special guests and musical performances
The event will be at the Chattanooga Convention Center.
All Saturday tours to the national parks/sites have been cancelled due to the government shutdown.
Events are free and open to the public, but seating is limited so come early. Online registration is closed at this time but people can register upon arrival.
