Marion County Woman Is $1 Million Lottery Winner

  • Friday, November 1, 2013

Laura Pittman of Marion County claimed a $1 million prize at the Tennessee Lottery’s Nashville headquarters on Friday.

“I thought I was seeing things,” said Ms. Pittman when describing what happened as she scratched a Millionaire Jumbo Bucks instant ticket on Halloween night. “I sat in the car for at least 15 minutes just staring at the ticket.”

Ms.

Pittman, who purchased the ticket at Raceway Convenience and Video on Highway 28 in Whitwell, came with her sister Doris to claim the prize. Coincidentally, Doris taught grandchildren of the Hubbard family in South Pittsburg. The Hubbards won a Powerball jackpot of $25.5 million in Tennessee in March 2005. “I guess we’re a lucky area,” said the sisters.
