Anna Mae Kelsey Helmes Foster, 79, of Ft. Payne, Alabama died on Monday, November 11, 2013.
A resident of the Ft. Payne area for the past 27 years, she formerly lived in the Ringgold area for 15 years. Anna was owner and operator of A&J Socks for three years, a former volunteer of the American Red Cross, and the Dekalb Regional Medical Center and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Henchley Helmes; second husband, Paul Foster; parents, James Lonnie and Lilly Olean Smith Kelsey; two sons, Donnie R. Helmes and Gregory Lynn Helmes and sister, Jessie D. Jordan.
She is survived by three children, Pamela Helmes Busby (James) of Ft. Payne, James S. Helmes (Elaine) of Ringgold, and Michael H. Helmes (Amy) of Ft. Payne, sister, Virginia Giles of Elizabeth Town, Ky.; 12 grandchildren, Jessica Lopez, Cassandra Blansit, Alexis Parker, Abbie Helmes, Kari Miller, Allen Busby, William Helmes, Katelyn Busby, Faith Helmes, Tiffany Chadwick, Veronica Dees and Lauren Bettman,; 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, in the funeral home chapel.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 5-9 p.m., all day Wednesday, and Thursday until funeral time at the funeral home.
