Throughout the month of December

Community Health:  Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening.  Free screening to detect bulge in artery wall.  For men and women 65 or older, no previous diagnosis of abdominal aortic aneurysm, and no abdominal CT in the past five years. Memorial Hospital Glenwood, Memorial Hospital Hixson and Memorial Ooltewah.  Registration and appointment required.  Call 423-495-6000 for information and to schedule an appointment.



Dec. 4

Mammography: Memorial Health Care System’s Mobile Health Coach to provide mammogram screenings.  Women age 40 and over who have not had a mammogram in the last 12 months are eligible with or without insurance. Location: Harrison Medical Center, 6800 Harrison Park Dr., Harrison, TN 37341. Times: 8:30 am to 4 pm. To schedule an appointment call 423-344-7095. 

Dec. 4

Weight Loss:  Bariatric Seminar.   Attend this FREE informative seminar to learn more about the Gastric Bypass Roux-en-Y and gastric banding weight loss procedures.  This seminar is geared specifically towards individuals who are at least 100 pounds overweight.  6 pm – 7:30 pm, Memorial Hospital Community Rooms.  Call 423-495-2245 for reservations.

Sportsbarn Hosts Triathlon Benefitting Local Families Trough First Things First

Area athletes are invited to test their physical strength at the 18th Annual Sportsbarn Sprint Triathlon on Sunday, Aug. 10.  The event starts at the Chickamauga Dam where competitors will swim, ride, run or even paddleboard to downtown Chattanooga.     Each year, more than 700 participants and spectators turn out for the sprint triathlon presented by the Sportsbarn. ... DA Looking Into Issue Of County Commission Candidate's Campaign Sending Filled-Out Request For Absentee Ballot To Elderly Voters

The District Attorney's Office has been provided with documents that a County Commission candidate's campaign sent filled-out requests for absentee ballots to elderly voters. Graham Says County School-City Lawsuit Settlement "Stinks," But County Commission Approves It

The County Commission on Wednesday approved a settlement of a lawsuit brought by the Hamilton County Schools against the city of Chattanooga, though several commissioners said they were not happy with the deal and Commissioner Joe Graham said it "stinks."
