Road Closures For East Ridge Christmas Parade Nov. 23

The city of East Ridge will hold its annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, Nov. 23.  Line-up begins at 4 p.m. on Germantown Road from Ringgold Road north toward I-24, with the parade stepping off at 6:30 p.m.   

Ringgold Road will shut down at 6 p.m. from Donaldson Road to Moore Road.  Germantown Road will be closed to all southbound traffic (except vehicles in the parade) beginning at 4 p.m.  Only one northbound lane of Germantown will be open for traffic and for dropping off participants in the parade.  

Do no try to go southbound on Germantown if you are dropping off parade participants.  The parade will end at Tombras Avenue.


Priceless Pets Continues Saturday at the Walker County Animal Shelter

The Walker County Animal Shelter had 124 people visit the shelter and adopt 12 dogs and 14 cats on their first day of the free adoption promotion "Priceless Pets." Reworked Miller Park, Connections To Cost Up To $8.4 Million

A reworked Miller Park with improved connections to Patten Parkway and MLK Boulevard will cost $7.6 million. With contingencies, the price tag is tabbed at $8.4 million. The city only had two bidders on the major downtown project. Thomas Brothers Construction had the low bid of $7,637,413. Dillard Construction was just behind at $7,768,113.
