Jerry Hendon
Jerry Michael Hendon, 58, of Chattanooga, died on Monday, November 18, 2013 in a local hospital.
He was born August 13, 1955 in Tuscaloosa, Al., to the late Hershel and Helen Marie Hendon.
He was a 1977 graduate of the University of Alabama and was an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide. He was a member of the Manker Patton Tennis Club.
Mr. Hendon attended Concord Baptist Church in Chattanooga and was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Jasper, Al. He was employed with TVA for the past 11 years and prior to coming to Chattanooga, was employed for more than 20 years with Drummond Coal Company.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Peggy Sue Hendon; son, Kyle Hendon of Chattanooga; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Brandon Harper of Atlanta; three brothers, Steve (Gaye) Hendon and Sanford Hendon both of Jasper, Al.; and Greg (Angelia) Hendon of Cullman, Al.; one sister, Tina (Roy) Reed of McCalla, Al.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Nov. 22, at 10 a.m. at Northside Baptist Church in Jasper, Al., with Reverend David Byrd and Reverend Delmus Anthony officiating.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 6-8 p.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home and from 9-10 a.m. CST at Northside Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chattanooga Community Kitchen, 727 East 11th Street, Chattanooga, Tn. 37403.
