Re:  New Proposals For Post-Fire Logging Fail To Protect Northern Spotted Owls

I would be happy to see a way to post rebuttal comments after that article.  It is already proven out that all of the restrictions to logging have not added the Owl.

At the same time this article is devoid of any facts about the destruction of our forests when left to nature.  It also does not mention the wanton and continuing devastation of the timber counties economies in Oregon even after it is known that the Northern Spotted Owl is a declining species unaffected by timber harvesting.

This sounds more like a propaganda piece intended to continue hoodwinking those unaware of the reality of the “Spotted Owl Hoax.”

Great note to the Chattanoogan on the Spotted Owl, David. Try reading my book Timber about the timber crisis in the PNW.

The owl was only a means to an end with the environmentalists and Al Gore let the courts and Judge Dwyer close down the most productive region for timber in the country. Remember Clinton's and Gore's campaign "promise" of protecting the jobs and the environment in the PNW.Way too many lost their jobs and children lost their parents.

Thanks again for your note.

Roy Exum: An Unfortunate Sentence

There was a most unfortunate line in a recent email written to me and, in retrospect, I should not have included it in some examples of the huge response regarding the bicycle lanes now being installed on Broad Street. I’ll admit I misread the line because I feel certain I know what the writer was trying to convey. As a matter of fact, I received enough of an outcry I want to clarify ... (click for more)

Possessiveness, Jealousy And Greed: The Original Three Stooges

Are possessiveness, jealousy and greed the original three stooges? Not really. The words “possessiveness,” “jealousy,” and “greed” are often viewed by the majority of people as all negative qualities when displayed.  But are they? In this column, as it is solely my opinion, agree or disagree, I am throwing the dictionary with its designated meanings out the window.  Good ... (click for more)
