Erlanger Offers Classes And Events For Dec. 2-14

The Erlanger schedule of classes and events for December 2-14 includes family planning classes, men’s health seminar and weight management information.  Registration is required.  For more information on our classes and events, call Erlanger HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465), seven days a week from 8 a.m. until midnight  HealthLink Plus is a free membership program open to adults 18 and older.  

Monday, December 2

Bariatric Support Group
5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Erlanger Chattanooga Lifestyle Center
Bariatric Support Group meetings are for individuals scheduled to have Bariatric surgery or who have already had weight loss surgery.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465) for more information. 

Childbirth Education
5:30 – 8:45 p.m.
Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road)
This childbirth education class/series is designed for expectant parents and taught by experienced OB nurses.  These classes include stages of labor, relaxation and labor support techniques, hospital procedures, pain management options, after birth and home care for moms and in-hospital care for newborns.  There will also be time for questions and answers.  Registration fee is $75.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465) to register.  

Tuesday, December 3

Breastfeeding
6:30 – 9:00 p.m.
Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road)
This class is designed to help participants make an informed choice about breastfeeding.  Learn breastfeeding basics, what to expect the first few weeks and special tips for success.  Concerns about returning to work/school will also be discussed.  This course is coordinated by a board-certified lactation consultant.  Registration fee is $30.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465) to register. 

Straight Talk about Men’s Health

Erlanger at Volkswagen Drive Wellness Center (Conference Room)
As many as 30 million men in the U.S. experience incontinence and/or erectile dysfunction. Attend this free seminar and meet the newest member of Erlanger’s Academic Urologist practice, Dr. Anand Shridharani, and learn about advancements in the treatment of these conditions—including minimally-invasive solutions—to regain intimacy and restore control.  The seminar is free and pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Man to Man Support Group
Begins at 5:30 p.m.

This support group is for spouses, friends and patients who have prostate cancer.  For more information, call 855-2778.  

Infant CPR Class
10:00 – 11:15 a.m.
Noon – 1:15 p.m.
Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road)
This one-hour class teaches basic CPR for an infant (birth to 1 year of age).  Class time includes infant safety instructions and hands-on practice of CPR and choking management techniques for an infant.  Anyone is welcome to take this class including parents, grandparents and babysitters.  Registration fee is $25.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465) to register.
