Edker Busie, 87, of Dalton, GA, died Thursday evening, November 28, 2013 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.
Edker was born April 21, 1926 in Shannon, GA, a son of the late Free and Texie Picklesaymer Busie; and was also preceded in death by his sisters, Bessie Spivey, Irene Rainey and Lucy Green; and his brothers, Reverend Freeman Busie and Arthur Busie.
Edker was retired from Henderson Electric Company, worked many years at Masterpiece Finishing Company and over twenty years at the Crown Cotton Mill. Edker was a member of the Cross Pointe Christian Center for over fifty years. He proudly served his country during World War II, in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his loving wife, Emogene Akins Busie of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Betty Jean and Phillip Holtzclaw; son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Linda Akins; grandchildren, Keith and Tammy Holtzclaw, Jason and Deborah Holtzclaw and Cara and Mohammad Belhaj; great-grandchildren, Olivia Helmes, Elisha Helmes, Kaylee Holtzclaw, Tommy Peden, Lauren Holtzclaw and Brianna Peden; sisters-in-law, Lexie Busie and Altha Clark all of Dalton; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Edker Busie will be held Sunday, December 1, at 2 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Bruce Edwards officiating. He will be laid to rest at Center Valley United Methodist Church Cemetery in Murray County, GA with Keith Holtzclaw, Jason Holtzclaw, Tommy Peden, Elisha Helmes, James Busie and Derrick Hicks serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, November 30 and after 11 a.m. Sunday, December 1.
