Jan. 11 Auditions Announced For 11th Annual Showcase Of The Stars

Tuesday, December 10, 2013

Auditions for the 11th annual Showcase of the Stars are scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Whitfield County Board of Education.

The Showcase of the Stars provides a forum for local students to share their vocal and instrumental talents on the stage at Crosspointe Christian Centre in Dalton.

During informal auditions, a panel selects acts to perform in three grade divisions (K–5, 6–8, and 9–12). Selected students will perform on Crosspointe’s stage singing to pre-recorded instrumental tracks, playing their own instruments, or singing a cappella.

Each ticket to the event—scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 1, at Crosspointe Christian Centre—becomes a ballot allowing the audience to vote for the winners. Multiple tickets may be purchased for $7 each. Students who collect the most votes from the audience earn cash prizes and trophies.

A Judges’ Choice trophy is also presented in each grade division. All students in kindergarten through high school—public, private, and homeschooled—are encouraged to audition. Profits from this event help fund the Whitfield Education Foundation’s Innovative Teaching Grant Program.

The Whitfield Education Foundation is a responsive, community-based, non-profit organization established in 1990. The Foundation strives to support the Whitfield County School System’s vision and educational mission. The mission of the Whitfield Education Foundation is to increase student learning opportunities, reward outstanding achievements, and honor retirees.
