An arrest has been made in connection with thefts from dorm rooms of UTC students.

UTC student Josue Moore "Sway" Brown, 21, of North Lovell Avenue, was charged with aggravated burglary and theft of property.

UTC Police said a female on Nov. 5 reported the theft of her black and silver Dell laptop computer from her apartment at 818 University St. She said the $400 computer was stolen between 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Video showed two black males enter the residence during that time frame and exit with what appears to be a computer.

The person holding the laptop was identified as Brown, it was stated.

The video shows Brown and the other individual walking down the halls and checking door handles prior to entering the female's unit.

They are seen entering another apartment a few doors down.

On Nov. 20, Sgt. Matthew Holzmacher interviewed Brown, who admitted the burglary.

He said he was with Fernando "Junior" Cifuentes, a former UTC student from Athens, Tn.

Brown said the laptop taken during one of the thefts was returned to the owner. He said a stolen "longboard" was sold to a longboard shop on Market Street and a white laptop was sold to another student. The longboard and white laptop were recovered.

When The City Was Silent

I don't know how to say this without getting my head handed back to me on a platter as is often the usual case.
