Edward Joseph Hensley, 65, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, died on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at his home.

Mr. Hensley was a veteran of the United States Navy and a retired fire captain with the federal government. He was a member of the American Legion and a former member of the Tri Community Volunteer Fire Department.

He attended Tyner United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Hensley.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Hensley, two daughters, Jennifer (Nick) Edge, Chris Hensley, granddaughter, Ava Edge, all of Chattanooga, father, Marion Hensley, brother, John Hensley, sister, Cathie Kirik, all of Alexandria, Va., and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, at Tyner United Methodist Church with Pastor Charlie Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military rites being conducted.

The family will receive friends from 4–8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
