Lee's Martin, Martinez Named To NCCAA All-American Volleyball Team

The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the 2013 NCCAA Volleyball Division I Awards on Friday. Among the awards announced are the All-Americans, Players of the Year, Coach of the Year, MVP's, and All-Tournament Team.

Seniors Paula Martins and Camil Martinez earned spots on the 14-member first team. Martins finished her final year with 461 kills, 294 digs and 89 blocks in helping the Lady Flames post a 22-11 record and a final four finish in the NCCAA National Volleyball Championship.


Martinez totaled 1024 assists from her setter position. She also came up with 294 digs and 90 kills. Both earned spots in the NCCAA Championship All-Tournament team.


Four In Double Figures, Heights Hawks Romp 72-41

Hamilton Heights’ Lady Hawks, ranked No. 1 in the country by ESPN, got a combined 37 points from Elizabeth Balogun and Treasure Hunt on Friday and routed Wesleyan Christian, 72-41, in the Best of Carolina Showcase at Legacy Charter School in Greenville, South Carolina. Bearettes' Bench Pivotal In 52-46 Win Vs. Stone Memorial

The bench continues to be a lethal weapon for Bradley Central’s unbeaten Bearettes. Stone Memorial starters outscored Bradley 42-33 Friday night in Crossville, but the Bearettes’ reserve players had a 19-4 offensive edge and that enabled coach Jason Reuter’s squad to post a 52-46 victory.
