Willard L. Cooper, 94, of Cohutta, GA, died on Friday, December 13, 2013, surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.
Willard was a lifelong committed Christian member of the First Baptist Church of Cohutta. He served his Lord and his church in any way he was called upon. He was loved by his church and community. He was a combat veteran of World War II serving with distinction throughout France and Germany.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Cooper; and son, Raymond Cooper.
He is survived by his daughters, Kathie Cooper Whitmire (Van) of Apison, TN and Patricia Cooper Little (Mike) of Cohutta; two sons, Kenneth Cooper (Retha) and Grady Cooper (Jan), all of Ringgold, GA; six grandchildren, Lacey Schofield, Wendy Woody, Jennifer Reese, Lindsey Watkins, April Hudson and Robin Croninger; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Catherine Maddox of Dalton. He is also survived by a host of friends from Cohutta that loved him.
The funeral service to honor the life of Willard Cooper will be held Monday, December 16, at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. John Bagley and Rev. Grady Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
