Georgia Northwestern closed out the 2013 side of their women’s basketball schedule Monday night at home against NJCAA Division I power Gadsden State (AL). However, cold shooting from the Winthrop-King Centre floor by the Lady Cats left them on the short end of the scoreboard as they fell Monday, 89-43.

Alabama product Taylor Adams led all scoring with 18 points on the night. The 6-foot-1 Lady Cardinal sophomore hit 8-of-13 from the field and pulled down 13 rebounds in the Gadsden State road win.

The Lady Cats were not quite as accurate as they would hit only 15-of-64 (23-percent) from the field, 6-of-13 (46-percent) from the foul line in the Georgia Northwestern loss.

With the defeat, Georgia Northwestern (3-11) falls to 2-2 at home.

Georgia Northwestern sophomore point guard Kiarra Parks (Cleveland, TN) led all Lady Cats with 15 points on 4-of-22 shooting. Sophomore shooting guard Sierra Smith (Armuchee, GA) connected 3-of-8 shooting from the three-point-line for nine points on the night.

The Lady Cats return to action after the Christmas break to take on their crosstown rival in Georgia Highlands. The NJCAA Division I opponent will visit the Winthrop-King Centre on January 4 for the non-region match-up. NJCAA Region XVII play opens against South Crescent Tech (GA) on January 13 at the Rossville Athletic Complex (R.A.C.), Rossville, Georgia.

Gadsden State (12-2) now heads to West Georgia Tech for a Thursday night match-up against the 8-5 Lady Golden Knights. West Georgia Tech at 11-1 is currently ranked 13th in the nation in NJCAA Division III Women’s Basketball. Georgia Northwestern will first face the Lady Golden Knights when they travel to West Georgia Tech on February 8.

The Bobcats are a member of NJCAA Region XVII, the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association, and a unit of the Technical College System of Georgia.
