Ida Mae Houston, 89, of Chattanooga, died on Tuesday morning, December 17, 2013 at a local health care facility.
She was a member of Miracle Baptist Church. Ida was born in Five Points, Al., and lived in Chattanooga for over 60 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Moses and Carrie Allen, daughter, Irene Houston, brothers, Jessie L. Allen of Roanoke, Al., and John W. Allen of Chattanooga, sisters, Emma Darden Burgess, Clara Jackson and Lillie Mae Keller, all of Chattanooga.
She is survived by her son, Jesse (Joan) Houston, grandson, Jesse Houston, Jr., nieces, Annie and Linda Darden, Johnnie Lee Allen, all of Chattanooga, and other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at noon on Friday, Dec. 20, at Forest Hills Cemetery with Reverend Randy Jacks officiating.
The body will lie in state after noon on Thursday, Dec. 19, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
