City Keeping Brainerd, Brown Acres Golf Courses

Tuesday, December 17, 2013

The Berke administration has no plan to sell the city's Brainerd and Brown Acres golf courses, the City Council was told Tuesday.

Brent Goldberg, deputy city chief operating officer, said, "There are incredible assets for the city."

He said city officials "have had hundreds of calls and emails in supporting of us keeping the golf courses."

Mr. Goldberg said the golf courses provide an affordable place for city residents to enjoy golf.

He said the city has a number of special golf programs, including a disabled program as well as the First Tee for young golfers.

Mr. Goldberg said efforts are being made to make the two golf courses operate as efficiently as possible and make them "self-sufficient."
