Vehicle emissions testing centers in Hamilton County (Chattanooga) will operate during special hours for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
Testing centers will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Wednesday, Dec. 25 for the Christmas holiday, with all stations to resume testing on Thursday, Dec. 26 at their regular scheduled hours.
Additionally, all Hamilton County vehicle emissions testing centers will close on Wednesday, Jan. 1 for the New Year’s holiday, and will resume testing on Thursday, Jan. 2 at their regular scheduled hours. All testing centers will remain open until 3 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 31.
“Planning ahead helps keep waiting to a minimum,” said Prentiss Taylor, program manager for the Tennessee vehicle inspection program administered by Envirotest Systems. “It’s a good idea to take vehicles mid-week when testing volume is usually lighter and to avoid testing in the final days of the month.”
Envirotest, the world’s leading provider of vehicle emissions testing and inspection, has a contract with the State of Tennessee to test vehicles for the improvement of air quality in Hamilton County, in addition to four Middle Tennessee counties, as required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to meet the Clean Air Act.
“Vehicle emissions testing has proven effective in helping Tennessee improve its air quality,” Mr. Taylor said.
