Nearly 250 collegiate and alumnae members of Sigma Kappa Sorority gathered to commemorate the sorority’s five founding sisters and celebrate 139 of sisterhood. Founded on Nov. 9, 1874, members across Tennessee attended a Founders’ Day event hosted by the Theta Phi Chapter at UTC.
The celebration was attended by members of the Gamma Psi, Tennessee Wesleyan College, and the Gamma Lambda, East Tennessee State University and was organized by Vice President of Alumni Relations, Arielle Henson.
Members enjoyed a lunch at the Chattanooga Hotel and a presentation in memory of the sorority’s founders. Alumna member Lynda Newton from the Alpha Delta Chapter at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville served as guest speaker, proving the audience with a message about the lasting legacy the sorority’s five founders have made on collegiate and alumnae members across the world.
