A 23-year-old with a 15-year federal prison sentence said in court Monday that good would come of his arrest and conviction.
Ronald Crumsey addressed his family, advising one family member to "straighten up."
He said, "I never thought that I would be ashamed of the things I once stood for, but I am."
Prosecutor Chris Poole said Crumsey was arrested four times in which he had a handgun on him.
That made him an armed career criminal facing a mandatory 15-year term.
One of his felonies was an evading arrest when he was a juvenile.
He was sentenced by Judge Sandy Mattice.
