Baylor Leads McCallie Mat Tourney

Pope in Second, Cleveland Third

On the strength of placing nine wrestlers in Saturday morning's semifinals Baylor has a solid lead after day one of the 33rd annual McCallie Invitational Wrestling Tournament.

The first place Red Raiders have 118.5 points, followed by second place Pope (Ga.) with 91 points (5 in the semis), Cleveland (83.5 pts./6 in the semis) and Alexander (Ga.) (77.5 pts./6 in the semis) to comprise the top four.

Host McCallie (6 in the semis) and Soddy Daisy (3 in the semis) are tied for fifth with 77 points.

"Our guys have worked hard this fall and it showed by our performance tonight," said Baylor coach Ben Nelson.

"There are some great match-ups in the semis so we have to continue to wrestle tough tomorrow."

Top Seeds Hold:  All 14 No.1 seeds and 13 of 14 No.2 seeds are in the semis

Work To Start Later This Year On Major Reworking Of U.S. 27 Downtown; 31 Walls To Be Erected As Cameron Hill Faces More Cuts

Work is set to start later this year on the $80 million reworking of U.S. 27 in downtown Chattanooga.
