Human Remains Found At Scene Of East Ridge Restaurant Fire

Human remains were found Thursday at the scene of an East Ridge restaurant fire.

At 3:29 a.m., East Ridge Fire Department and East Ridge Police Department were dispatched to a commercial fire at 6715 Ringgold Road - the old Hungry Fisherman.

Responding units found a vacant structure fully involved with fire upon arrival. Firefighters made a defensive attack and extinguished the fire. 

Memorial Ambulance and Hamilton County Rescue also responded.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

East Ridge Police said, "During the investigation at the scene, unidentified human remains were found inside the remains of the structure."

Agencies represented at the on-scene investigation included the Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s Office, state of Tennessee Bomb & Arson Investigators, the East Ridge Fire Department and the East Ridge Police Department.

The investigation is ongoing.
