Chicken From China - And Response (2)

Friday, December 27, 2013

I viewed an episode of Dr. Oz on Dec. 10 where I learned that poultry producers have acquired government approval to send chickens to China for processing.  These chickens will be shipped to China, processed and then sent back to the U. S.

The USDA has approved the plan and they will not be inspecting the process sites.  They will inspect less than 20 percent of the products sent back to the U.S.

As you would expect, it's all about money.  Producers can actually do this and save money.  Just how much?  Is it worth our safety?

I understand how companies want to maximize profits but how far do we go with this?  Something has to change or our children will not have a job.  America is asleep at the wheel and so are our politicians.  They are selling us out day by day.

I think it's a great idea, Mike, I hand wrung dominecker chickens, dunked em in steaming hot number three tubs of water, then plucked their feathers, while my granny gutted and bagged em for the freezer when I was a child, down on Ocoee Street in Avondale when I was a child, and I dare say I wouldn't wanna do it again, and like Ross Perot said, way back when, who the heck wants to pluck chickens for the minimum wage anyway.

So's l say, let them Chinese folks pluck dem chickens to their hearts content, the children won't mind at all, and as for the safety issue, ya gotta be kidding us.

Mike is right, whether its Chinese exported children’s toys, toothpaste, milk powder, toxic vinegar or even the air there, the country produces an incredibly toxic environment.  Recently an article by Edward Wong a correspondent in China for the New York Times reported stories of rat meat passed as lamb in Chinese restaurants, cooking oil recycled, and crops being grown in soil polluted by heavy metals or wastewater from factories.  Do we believe the chicken they ship back to us will be any better, or even the chicken we send over?

The USDA has already had massive cuts in their inspection program.   There will be no labeling of the Chinese chicken because technically the chicken was raised in the U.S.  Is our congress listening? They can stop this.  Obama doesn’t seem to worry about these chickens coming home to roost.

Tim Boyd Will Represent The Common Man

I would like to show my support for Tim Boyd for our District 8 commissioner.  He deserves to have our support because he has stood up to represent the common man and not the super block of politicians.    He tells it like it is and I believe he deserves another term.  I also believe that the average voting citizen will see the way he has represented our district ... Tennessee basketball coach Cuonzo Martin apparently took his name out of the coaching search at Marquette so he could put it in a hat at the University of California at Berkeley. Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart admitted Martin’s move surprised him. “Not from my perspective,” ... (click for more)
