Two people were injured Monday night when their car hit a house.
Shortly after midnight, the Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident at 20 S. Germantown Road. Battalion Chief Rick Boatwright said the initial reports advised that a car had struck a house and the car caught fire.
Five companies with the Chattanooga Fire Department responded and found the vehicle on fire sitting against a residence. Firefighters with Engine 15 used a hand line to quickly extinguish the fire. Chief Boatwright said two victims were pulled from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital by Hamilton County EMS. No information is available on their condition.
Chief Boatwright said the impact from the car caused substantial damage to the front of the structure. The loss to the structure is estimated at $15,000. A city building inspector was called to evaluate the structure. It was determined the house was not safe to occupy.
The Chattanooga Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the EPB, HCEMS, Chattanooga Police, and the City Building inspector.
