Fifteen From Area Voted To TSWA All-State Volleyball Team

Fifteen Chattanooga-area players have been selected to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association all-state volleyball teams.

Making the team in Division II were Baylor’s Haven Bethune, Gabby Gray and Rachel Ford and Kelby Crownover and Olivia Berger from GPS.

Class A honorees were Boyd-Buchanan’s Kristen Reynolds and Katie DeLay and Sale Creek’s Megan Storey.

In Class AA the selectees were Notre Dame’s Stephanie Bouchard, Signal Mountain’s Taelor Kellum, Central’s Tiffani Estep and Red Bank’s Abby Graham.

Ooltewah’s Courtlyn Ison, Bradley Central’s Brooke Copeland and East Hamilton's Emma Lenoir made the Class AAA team.

Bryan Softball Team Fourth Seed In AAC Tournament

The Appalachian Athletic Conference released the bracket for the 2014 AAC Softball Tournament on Saturday, and Bryan is the No. 4 seed.  The Lions finished the regular-season 25-20 overall and 12-6 in the AAC. Man Shot On Cannon Avenue Early Saturday Morning

A man was shot early Saturday morning on Cannon Avenue. At approximately 5:30 a.m., Chattanooga Police responded to 2300 Cannon Ave. for shots fired.  Shortly after receiving the call, officers learned that a victim arrived at a local hospital.  The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the right leg and is undergoing treatment. Child Playing With Cigarette Lighter Starts $25,000 Mobile Home Fire

A child playing with a cigarette lighter started a mobile home fire on Saturday morning. At 9 a.m., the Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a mobile home fire at 6561 Cassie Lane. It took four fire companies about 10 minutes to get the fire under control. The fire was contained to one bedroom. No injuries were reported. Damage to the home is around $25,000. (click for more)
