Billy Joe Phillips
Billy Joe Phillips, age 76, of Ooltewah, died on Wednesday, December 4, 2013.
He was born March 20, 1937 in Chattanooga to the late Ruby Mae and Leroy Phillips, Sr.
He courageously served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War Conflict.
Mr. Phillips was a longtime member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church. He whole-heartedly loved the Lord Jesus Christ and happily shared with others about God’s unconditional love and salvation.
He was proudly employed as a pathologist with Erlanger Medical Center for 25 years.
His wife, Nancy Ann Phillips, brother, Leroy Phillips, Jr., and sister, Thedna Ann Crisp preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving children, Craig Morgan of Chattanooga; Ray Morgan of Ringgold; Wendi Taliaferro, Jill Petty, and Carol Tinsley of Chattanooga; brother, Jackie Phillips; sisters, Diane Shelton, Alice Stinnett, and Shirley Harmon all of Chattanooga; 17 grandchildren, whom he dearly loved; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Dec. 5, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 9, at 12:30 p.m. in the East Brainerd Chapel with Pastor Chris Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.
