Oliver Simmons
Oliver Edward Simmons, 81, of East Ridge, died on Friday, December 6, 2013.
Mr. Simmons was born and raised in Durbin, WV. He was a member of Bennett Road Bible Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a longtime employee of McCallie School as a security guard.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Simmons; parents, Marvin and Mona Simmons; four brothers; and three sisters.
Surviving are his children, Ricky Simmons, Karen Harris, John Simmons; daughter-in-law, Sandra Simmons; granddaughter, Kalyn Noelle Harris; three sisters; two brothers; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10, and from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the funeral home with Pastor Doug Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 404 South Moore Road.
