UTC Police officers apprehended one suspect and they are seeking a second suspect in relation to an armed robbery which was reported on campus earlier Monday.

Charges have been filed against Chico Dwight Baugus at the Hamilton County Jail. He was apprehended near campus in a vehicle believed to be stolen at Antioch, Tn.

UTC Police said it appears the two UTC students who reported the robbery had met the two suspects previously. Two laptop computers and two cell phones were reported taken. All of the property was recovered by UTC Police.

UTC Police believe this was not a random crime. There appears to be no connection between this armed robbery and another armed robbery that occurred on campus on Dec. 1.

The investigations into both incidents continue.

UTC maintains an increased police presence initiated after the Dec. 1 incident.

Baugus, 23, of 1185 Mountain Creek Road, is charged with robbery, theft, violating a drug free zone, possession of drugs for resale and resisting arrest.

Officials said Baugus is originally from Antioch, Tn.
