Thank You For Contacting My Office - And Response

Monday, December 09, 2013

Who really believes that any of our elected officials listen to the citizens who elected them. The following is an automated response from Senator Corker and my reply.  I would like to think that I am not the only one who feels this way.

When are you elected officials going to do something about the way Obama is doing business.  The American people are fed up with the double talk that is coming from all of you.  As for you reading every single letter, who do you think you are fooling?   But as you can see I read your AUTOMATED reply.  You do not represent the citizens of your state, you represent yourself and your career.  If I am wrong then prove that you really care about the citizens and DO SOMETHING and DO IT IN THE PUBLIC EYE, otherwise you are just another blow hard out for yourself.

Dear Senator Corker,
As a Democrat that voted for you in the last election, I applaud you for sending a form letter response to knuckleheads of either party that would send you generalized letters not asking specific questions. Although I frequently disagree with you on certain ideas or policies, I still believe you are the best qualified for the job and have the best interests of the United States at heart.

I have no doubt that I myself would get the same form letter had I asked similar questions, but I also have the good sense to know that somewhere in your office you are likely keeping a tally of opinions on subjects of the day and, hopefully, will act accordingly down the road, if and when necessary.

I'm hoping you don't have a blind hatred of President Obama, unlike the highly vocal fringe elements of your party, and will continue to search for ways to compromise and get things done in these incredibly partisan times.

Let me tell you about my call to Senator Bob Corker's office when I needed help.  As opposed to the other senator or Wamp's office, neither of which responded at all, the staff of Senator Corker responded promptly, almost immediately, in a most professional and effective way.  Even called back after their initial action to be sure the problem was, in fact, resolved.

Had the chance on two separate occasions to talk to the senator personally to thank him and he was gracious in stating that it was what he expects of his staff.  He was also generous with his time as we discussed a number of issues.

Don't agree with him some of the time.  But as one that represents me and and has truly helped me he has my utmost respect.  I am more of a Democrat than I am a Republican and am really sick of most all politicians on either side of the aisle.  But I am delighted to see Senator Corker advance in the political arena bringing moderation, cooperation and pragmatism to the table where it is usually absent.

Smart Leaders Elevate Smartt

Phil Smartt is truly a homegrown candidate for county commissioner in District 7.  Born here, educated in the public schools here, he and Gloria raised their six children here, he built a very successful business here, and he has a life long record of investing himself in helping and serving the people of Chattanooga and Hamilton County.  I have found him to be kind, considerate ... Responsible Gun Ownership

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." And, no, that's not talking about the "national guard," lib-speak not withstanding.  After last Sunday's, April 13, Times editorial rant against legal gun ownership, I'm about ready to drop my subscription, especially after the ... Fowlkes' 3-Hitter Leads Collierville Past Soddy-Daisy, 7-0

Veteran coach Jeff Hopkins has a unique way of handling the Collierville High School baseball program. Rather than varsity, junior varsity and freshmen teams, Hopkins uses the labels Major League, Triple A and Double A for his Dragons squads. “The kids love it,” Hopkins said of his innovative system. “It’s like a minor-league system and our players understand that.
