Dorothy "Polly" Norton, 78, of Summerville, Georgia, died on Sunday, February 10, 2013 in Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center. 

Mrs. Norton was born Nov. 3, 1934, in Centre, Ala., the daughter of the late Irby and Lucille Smith Abernathy. She was a homemaker and a former employee of the Montgomery Knitting Mill. 

She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Tomlin, second husband Walter Norton, son, Edward Tomlin, brothers, David and Junior Abernathy.

Survivors include her nieces and caregivers, Trish Rich, Kathy Terry, Judy Slaughter, Kayla Warren, Tonya Dawson, Melinda Clark, earthly angels, Amanda Miller, Kateina Kirby, special friend, Robert Chaney.

Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, at the South Carolina Camp Ground Cemetery, with Reverend Jerry Rutledge officiating, with burial in the family plot at South Carolina Camp Ground Cemetery.

Mrs. Norton will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends on Monday from 2:30 p.m. until the service time.

City Seeking Grant To Improve Signals At 32 Intersections

The city is seeking a $2 million federal grant to go along with $500,000 in city funds for a project to improve signals at 32 intersections. There would also be bike and pedestrian improvements. The routes include Brainerd Road, Lee Highway, Shallowford Road, Gunbarrel Road and Hamilton Place Boulevard. The application is for a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Grant. (click for more)
