Jeraldyn “Jerry” Tallent Marlin, 88, of Chattanooga, died on February 12, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her family.  

A graduate of Central High School, she married her high school sweetheart, Hugh R. “Jack” Marlin in 1942. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and Christian.

A proud member of the Dalewood/Lakeside Lions Club, she lived a life of service and devotion to her fellow mankind. She was a faithful and dedicated Christian and a proud member of the Methodist church. She passionately collected Precious Moments figurines that she shared with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Minnie Mae Scott and H.V. Tallent; her brother, Ralph Tallent; and her beloved husband of 69 years, Hugh R. “Jack” Marlin, Jr.

She is survived by her sons, Bob (Marie) Marlin of Red Bank, Jim Marlin of Marietta, Ga., and daughter, Kathy (Frank) Lewis, of Harrison; sister, Peggy T. Kelley; grandchildren, Vickie Marlin, Lawrenceville, Ga.; Angie Marlin, Red Bank, Tn.; Vance Marlin, Chattanooga; Jamie Dye, Chattanooga; Jenni (Michael) Jackson, Ooltewah; Frank (Chelsa) Lewis, Jr., Chattanooga; Quinn Lewis, Chattanooga; Tyler Marlin, Marietta, Ga.; and Tiffany Jennette, Rome, Ga.; 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Feb. 14, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and Friday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 15, at 1 p.m. at the North Chapel with Reverend Richard Richter officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tennessee Lions Charities, designated to the Kids Sight Vision Screening Program, 505 Fesslers Lane, Nashville, Tn. 37210; Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, Tn. 37416, or the charity of your choice, as she whole-heartedly believed in helping all mankind.

Arrangements are under the direction of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn.
