Earl Ray Sullivan, 84, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, died on February 12, 2013.
He was born in Wilson, N.C., to Henry Hiram and Orpha Watson Sullivan on Feb. 22, 1928. Ray was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving as a Staff Sergeant. He was the retired owner of Made-Rite Sandwich Company. He will always be remembered as a beloved husband, a great daddy, a wonderful grandpa and greatpa.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lorraine Sullivan; children, Valerie (Kenny) Stiner of Ooltewah, Keith (Rene) Sullivan of Ooltewah, Lisa (Steve) Corley of Ringgold, and Jenni (Greg) O’Quinn of Brandon, Ms.; grandchildren, Sarah (Malcolm) Johnson, Ken (Sarah) Stiner, Meagan (Chris) Hooper, Jason (Emily) Sullivan, Will (Cindy) Sullivan, Andy (Cassidy) Corley, Michael Corley, Daniel Corley, Matthew Corley and Joshua Corley; great-grandchildren, Bentlee and Kenslee Stiner, Lily and Ava Grace Hooper and Ariana Sullivan; sisters, Ethelene (Louis) Kennedy of Kenly, N.C., Margaret Kirby of Lucama, N.C., brother, Elwood (Lucille) Sullivan of Kenly, N.C., and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Ezra Sullivan, Herman Sullivan, James Sullivan, Mary Ellen Gifford and Virginia Kirby.
A graveside service will be held at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14, with the Reverend Dr. Curtis Schofield officiating. Mr. Sullivan’s grandsons will act as pallbearers. There will be no visitation.
The family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, Children’s Ministries, 8645 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.
