Chattanooga firefighters were dispatched to a house fire at 5:13 p.m. Saturday at 1800 Newell Ave in East Chattanooga. It was determined to be arson.
Lt. Jenny Parker advised smoke was coming from the eaves of the house. Entry was made to the residence and the source of the fire was located and quickly extinguished. A search and secondary search were conducted and it was determined no one was at home.
Officials said the fire appears to be intentionally set with multiple points of origin.
Authorities said the owner of the property was also involved in a SWAT call on Saturday night. Fire officials have not yet been able to interview her.
Chattanooga Police and the Electric Power board provided assistance on the scene.
