Barnes, Lester Eugene

Lester Eugene Barnes, 68, of Ringgold, Georgia died on Sunday, February 17, 2013 after battling cancer for two years. 

A lifelong resident of the North Georgia area, he was a former employee of Collegedale Case Works where he worked for 15 years, and he was of the Baptist faith. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Betty Epperson Barnes; brothers, David and Robert “Sonny” and sisters, Margie, Marie and Grace. 

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marilyn Anderson Barnes of Ringgold; three children, Bobby (Leann) Barnes of Harrison, Tn., Charles Barnes of Ringgold, and Crystal (Brian) Barnes Herndon of Englewood, Fla., sister, Doris Morgan of Chatsworth, Ga., four grandchildren, Mitchell Herndon, Rachal Herndon, Logan Barnes and Lauren Barnes Jablonski; two great-grandchildren, Brayden Herndon and McKenzie Berning, and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, in the funeral home chapel. 

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 4-9 p.m., and Thursday until funeral time at the funeral home. 

Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home Wallis-Stewart Chapel, Ringgold.
