Sammy L. Townsend, 60, of Chickamauga, Georgia, died on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 in a local hospital.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran who loved music and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel W. Townsend.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Ruth Townsend, Chickamauga, Ga., brother, Rick (Susan) Townsend, Waleska, Ga., nephew, Joseph Townsend, Lexington Park, Md., niece, Sarah (Seth) Meador, Marietta, Ga., aunts, Ruby Lee Frye, Lafayette, Ga., Ruby Akins, Chickamauga, Ga. and many cousins and friends.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m. in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive friends on Monday, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville, Ga.
