Fowler, Bobby Joe (Summerville)

Bobby Joe Fowler, 75, Summerville, Georgia, died on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Fowler was born Feb. 1, 1938, in Summerville, the son of the late Jim Perry Reeves Fowler and Lucille LuAllen Fowler. 

He was a member of Full Gospel Baptist Church. 

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James Fowler, Grady Fowler, Harold Fowler, Charlie Fowler, Perry Fowler, and Jim Fowler; and a sister, Virginia Colbert.

Survivors include his wife, Tivis Sue Fowler; daughter, Elisa Ann Fowler Bradley; brother, Jerry Wayne Fowler; grandchildren, Joshua David Bradley and Justin Tyler Bradley; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24, at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Thurston Garrett officiating. Burial will follow in Lyerly Cemetery.

Mr. Fowler will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from noon until the service hour on Sunday.

City Seeking Grant To Improve Signals At 32 Intersections

The city is seeking a $2 million federal grant to go along with $500,000 in city funds for a project to improve signals at 32 intersections. There would also be bike and pedestrian improvements. The routes include Brainerd Road, Lee Highway, Shallowford Road, Gunbarrel Road and Hamilton Place Boulevard. The application is for a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Grant. (click for more)
