Man Shoots Brother; Says He Thought Shotgun Was Unloaded

Police said a man shot his brother at a house in Brainerd on Friday afternoon.

At 3:31 p.m., Chattanooga Polic officers responded to 266 Buena Vista Dr. on a person shot call. When officers arrived they found 18-year-old Joaqin Burse  with a gunshot wound to his chest.

Michael Burse, the victim’s brother, stated that he thought Joaqin had unloaded a shotgun. Michael stated that he pointed the gun at his brother and accidently shot Joaqin in the chest.

Joaqin Burse was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Michael Burse, 19, has been charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
