Jack L. Parker, 86, of Rossville, died on Monday, February 25, 2013 at a local hospital.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from Cavalier and was the owner/operator of Fort Oglethorpe Cab until 1998   He enjoyed bird watching, listening to country music, watching Western movies and CNN. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and will missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sister and grandson, Rodney Short.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Gladys Parker, and two daughters, Terri Short (Bill) of Fort Oglethorpe and Cathy Parker (Tom Ford) of Ringgold, granddaughter, Angie Griffith, and great-grandchildren, Savannah and Brecken Griffith.

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m. at Lakewood South Memory Gardens with military honors and Solamar Hospice Chaplin Marv Eskew officiating.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
