Wilbur Dickert

Wilbur Wilson Dickert, Jr., of Hixson, died February 24, 2013 at the age of 58, after a long battle with cancer.

A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, he will be widely mourned.  Wilbur was an artist, in every sense of the word.  Whether his instrument be his trumpet, his camera or his paint brushes, his creativity was boundless.  His love of nature and of animals, both domestic and wild is undeniable in his photography and his paintings.  Wilbur, a modern Renaissance Man, mastered every challenge he set before himself both at work and at play.

Wilbur is survived by his brother, Paul White; sisters:  Madeline Holbert, Stephanie Rutherford and Susan Sargent; niece,  Jean Holbert; nephew,  Chris Rutherford; great niece, Peyton Rogers; his two dogs, Banjo and Covington and a variety of canine and feline nieces and nephews.

Per his wishes, there will be no memorial service.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, should be made to the Chattanooga Arboretum & Nature Center, 423 821-1160.

Arrangements are by Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace, 877-3524.
