Joe Dickson Corlew, 83, of Dayton, TN, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in Chattanooga. 

He was born August 21, 1929 in Charlotte, TN to the late William Parks and Thelma (Loggins) Corlew; and was also preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Ann (Mize) Corlew. 

A resident of Dayton for the past 25 years, he retired from Dupont as a lab technician. He was a member of the Masons and he enjoyed fishing. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He is survived by his son, Joe C. (Tama) Corlew of Cleveland, two daughters, Marcy (Ray) Epps of Houston, TX and Tracy (Steve) Clift of Dayton; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services with military honors will be held Thursday, February 28 at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tom Herrell officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife Friday, March 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Thursday, February 28 after 4 p.m.


Heuser, Valetta Jean (Rock Spring)

Valetta Jean Heuser, 93, of Rock Spring, died on Monday, May 20, 2013 in a local hospital. Hayden Lamar Lasley, 60, of Hixson, died on Monday, May 20, 2013.   He was a longtime area girls softball coach for more than 35 years.
